This summer, the Heartland Education Foundation is excited to offer Summer STEM Classes that will provide middle and high school students with valuable hands-on experiences, career exploration, and opportunities to develop key academic and life skills. Our Design Connect Create summer camps are designed to engage students in experiential, project-based learning that empowers them to design innovative solutions, connect ideas to real-world applications, and build confidence in their ability to succeed in STEM fields.

What Are Summer STEM Classes?

The Summer STEM Camps are more than just a way to pass the time—they are a chance for students to immerse themselves in real-world science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through these camps, students will:

Summer STEM Program Offerings

Our Summer STEM Classes feature two dynamic programs, each designed to engage students in meaningful learning experiences:

AccelerateHER: Empowering Girls in 6th-12th Grades

AccelerateHER is a unique program designed specifically for girls in 6th to 12th grades who are interested in exploring the exciting world of engineering, arts, and physics. This camp empowers young women to:

  • Design projects using the engineering design process.
  • Connect STEM concepts to arts and physics, showing how different fields intersect and work together.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of how STEM careers can impact various industries, from technology to the arts.

Through hands-on activities and guidance from industry experts, participants in AccelerateHER will gain valuable skills and confidence that will prepare them for future success in STEM fields.

BiotechHER:  Exploring Genetics and Biotech for Girls in 9th-12th Grades

For high school girls in 9th to 12th grades, the BiotechHER camp offers an immersive experience in the world of biotechnology and genetics. Students will:

  • Investigate genetics using advanced biotech lab techniques.
  • Work on real-world applications of biotechnology in fields like medicine, agriculture, and environmental science.
  • Develop skills that can be applied to careers in biotechnology, healthcare, or research.

This program provides an exciting opportunity for students to explore the cutting-edge field of biotech and understand its role in shaping the future of science and medicine.
