Crandall Middle School Band Program

Empowering Students with the Gift of Music

At the Heartland Education Foundation, we believe in the power of the arts to foster creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. That’s why we are proud to have supported the Crandall Middle School Band Program by providing brand new band instruments for every student. This contribution not only enhances the music program but also ensures that every student has access to the instruments they need to succeed—without the financial burden on families.

A Strong Start for the New Middle School

When the new Crandall Middle School opened its doors in the Heartland community, it was essential that students had access to the best possible resources. The Heartland Education Foundation responded by providing a full range of brand new band instruments, giving every student the opportunity to play the instrument of their choice and ensuring a strong, diverse band program from the very start.

This one-time purchase of new band equipment represents the Foundation’s commitment to promoting equity in the arts, supporting teamwork among students, and ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed in their musical journey.

Impact on Students and Families of Heartland & Crandall

Thanks to the generosity of the Heartland Education Foundation, students at Crandall Middle School now have access to a wide variety of instruments that they may not have been able to afford otherwise. Here’s how the new instruments are making a difference:

  • More Instrument Choices for Students: With the new instruments, students have the freedom to choose the instrument that best suits their interests and talents, whether it's a trumpet, clarinet, flute, or saxophone.
  • Increased Band Participation: The 22-23 school year saw a record number of 326 students participating in the band program. This surge in participation highlights how essential access to quality instruments is to encouraging student involvement in music.
  • Saving Families Money: By providing free access to high-quality instruments, the Foundation has relieved families of the financial burden of renting or purchasing band instruments. This makes music education more affordable and accessible to all students in the Heartland community.
  • Stronger Band Program: With the new instruments, the Crandall Middle School Band Program has been able to grow stronger, with students able to practice, perform, and develop their skills on instruments that might have otherwise been out of reach. This contribution helps foster a deeper love for music and enhances the overall experience for both students and teachers.

Why Music Education Matters for Heartland & Crandall Students?

The Crandall Middle School Band Program is more than just about playing music—it's about building characterdeveloping discipline, and fostering collaboration. Music education helps students:

  • Enhance Academic Performance: Research shows that students involved in music tend to perform better in other areas of study, including math, reading, and critical thinking.
  • Learn Teamwork and Discipline: Playing in a band teaches students how to work together, practice perseverance, and improve through regular effort.
  • Foster Creativity and Confidence: Music allows students to express themselves creatively while also building their confidence in performing and sharing their talents with others.
